What is your approach to advising?
When I meet with students I make sure I understand their question/situation and provide the best answer/solution.

Education
B.A. in Radio & Television, SF State 2009
B.A. in Asian American Studies,
SF State 2009
M.A.Ed. Instructional Technologies, SF State 2015

How did you get here?
I attended SF State as an undergrad and became an orientation leader/peer advisor which sparked an interest in college advising.  I went on to earn a M.A. in Education - Instructional Technologies, which combined a passion to create and design instructional tools and advising.

What's your favorite part of your job?
Everyday is different, which I love, but the constant is knowing that I am assisting students prepare for the rest of their lives is rewarding!

What's the best class you've ever taken?
Counseling 325 - Peer Counseling Training!  This was the class to become a orientation leader/peer advisor.  This class, which afterwards turned into a job, helped me build connections and relationships while in college — I have made lifetime friends through the experience.  If I didn't get involved with orientation, I do not think my college experience would have been as impactful or eventful.  I was able to travel to conferences around the U.S., grow personally and professionally, and ultimately get me into the UAC.

Most unusual job you ever had?
I don't know if this was unusual but I worked for Lifetouch.  I was the guy that went to high schools and took your ID/yearbook photo.

About me (likes and hobbies)
Fitness! I got into exercising in the last couple of years and I've done multiple Spartan Races (2x Trifecta), Tough Mudders, Urbanathalons, and a Disneyland Half Marathon.  Photography, driving, traveling, dancing and Disney (it is well reflected in my office).

What advice do you have for SF State Gators?
Get involved with campus!  Also, please do not forget to have fun!  This is college, it is serious but you are here to prepare you for the rest of your life.  So have fun while you are young and able to before you start a career and/or family.
