Danica Foronda

Counseling Intern

More about Danica:

I have B.A.'s in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Education Studies from UCLA. I am currently in the Master's of Science in Counseling program here at SF State.

When supporting students, I hope be in your corner and a part of your support system. I want to provide students a space where they can bring the struggles and successes they are experiencing to the table.

My college journey was not easy, but I would not be here without my community and the people who have poured into my own experiences towards graduating.

I am excited to be alongside my students as they come across new interests, things they do and don't like, and how they evolve throughout their college experience. College can be a time where you learn so much about yourself, so being a part of that process is something that I look forward to.

The joy I feel when something in my students click! When they come out of appointments feeling heard, supported, and empowered is a feeling that is unmatched.

Counseling Theories! I created my own counseling philosophy and was able to dive deeper into why this specific field is filled with so much purpose for me.

Not unusual, but I did work as a smoothie-rista for a Summer during college! I played a lot of restaurant games growing up, so this one was fun for me.

t's okay to change your mind! As I mentioned, college can be a time where you figure out more about yourself and the person you hope to grow into years later. There will always be pathways for you to follow your goals and create new ones.

I feel like I am always side-questing new things. I love exploring new states, countries, and national parks. I also enjoy working out, so I love finding new ways to move my body. When I sit still, I usually crochet, read, or find new arts and crafts to learn.
