Academic Counselor
More about Ezekiel (He/Him):
B.A. Communication and B.A. Psychology, UC Davis
M. Ed. Student Development Administration, Seattle University
I have a holistic advising approach to support the well-being and growth of students as they navigate all aspects of their journey through college. I seek to develop meaningful relationships based on mutual trust and partnership where everyone can find a sense of connection here!
I've had a long passion for education and equity within it, and I found that advising was a great fit for me to support students one-on-one while advocating for students needs/issues at a larger level.
I'm always excited to see the growth of students over time! I love to celebrate students' academic, career, and personal achievements as they move closer to fulfilling their goals.
My favorite part of being an Academic Counselor is the community I'm a part of. The team of dedicated Academic Counselors is so great to work alongside. The students here are all so amazing as well, and it's nice when a student can leave an advising appointment relieved and with all questions answered.
The best class I've taken was an "Issues in Higher Education" course at UC Davis, which helped affirm that I wanted to pursue a Master's degree related to it and go into a career within it. It even led to me pursuing an Education minor as well. It's amazing when you're able to take a class that can affirm your interests and can lead to pathways you might not have initially expected.
All of my internships and jobs have actually been in the field of education, so there's nothing unusual or too far off from this one.
Challenge yourself, step out of your comfort zone, and always feel free to reach out for help along the way! Sometimes issues can snowball into something larger, so talk to an Academic Counselor or another supportive person in your life whenever anything comes up. We're here for you!
I enjoy picking up new crafts, watching TV, reading (occasionally), and just walking around the city!
