More about Sophia:
San Francisco State University and Widener University
As many of my colleagues would probably agree, I like to take a holistic, person-centered, culturally responsive approach when working with students. My goal is to support students' academic and overall well-being, address their individual needs, and build meaningful relationships that help to foster a sense of belonging within the SFSU community.
With a background in social work and a passion for academics and advocacy (and as a former Gator myself!), advising seemed like a natural fit.
I love the energy and passion that is innate in all of our students. Our students are our future, so being a small part of their journey is incredibly exciting.
My favorite part of this job is working with students to navigate challenges, build resilience and grit, grow, and eventually achieve their goals!

Life is too long to be unhappy or to feel stuck. As Maya Angelou once said, "If you don't like something, change it."
You WILL move mountains in your life and this is just the beginning! The good news is you do not need to move them alone, we are here to help you get to where you want to go.
